The campus of Ole Miss was the backdrop for Caroline Walker and Daniel Reed’s budding romance, so it was only fitting that their wedding day would be capped off with an homage to their days in Oxford.
“We met during the first semester of our freshman year, and we were instant friends,” explains Caroline, adding that as the couple grew closer, Daniel asked her to be his campaign manager when he ran for Mr. Ole Miss. “Four years of close friendship set the stage for us to begin to fall in love with one another.”
A few years later, on their way back to Oxford for Ole Miss’ homecoming weekend, Daniel headed off the highway for a surprise pit stop at Caroline’s family’s hunting camp in Canton. “We pulled into the driveway, and he had set up a table overlooking a beautiful pasture,” she recalls. “The table had pictures of us, flowers, candles, and—of course—the ring! After the proposal, we continued our drive to Oxford, where we were met by our friends and families at a proposal party on the Square.”
