A BOMBSHELL NEW BOOK LIFTS THE LID ON THE FORMER AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER

Upon his death in 2019, beloved former prime minister Bob Hawke was perhaps most remembered for his political reforms. That, and his love of a good tipple, of course!

As such, many have since been surprised to learn that when he served as the leader of the Australian Labor Party from 1983 to 1991, he was a dedicated teetotaller.

While Bob, born Robert James Lee Hawke in 1929, was impressively able to put aside his love of booze to serve the nation, there was sadly one habit he seemingly couldn’t curb – women.

Indeed, an explosive new biography, Bob Hawke: Demons and Destiny, has shed light on the womanising side of Mr Hawke that it seems everyone but the Australian voting public knew about.

In the headline-making tome, Bob’s second wife and widow Blanche d’Alpuget even reveals Bob had four “serious affairs” while he was leading the country – going as far as to agree the politician suffered with something of a sex addition.

“I think so. Because sex will calm people down, and he was a very highly strung man,” Blanche says in response to whether or not her late husband was addicted to sex.
