Anyone who knows Catherine Zeta-Jones will tell you the actress relishes any opportunity to walk the red carpet – especially if it’s by her husband Michael Douglas’ side.

So, awards-season pundits were surprised to see Michael attend last week’s Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles with his adult son, Cameron, as his plus one, instead of his wife of 21 years.

“Catherine’s absence was the talk of the SAGs,” reveals one Hollywood insider. “Especially since Michael was nominated for an award, and his son didn’t seem especially thrilled to be there. Catherine adores awards season. It’s very unlike her not to be here.”

As speculation spread through the star-studded event like wildfire, the couple’s friends soon realised it’s been four months since the pair were seen together publicly.
