AFTER 11 YEARS FRÉDÉRIC IS STILL THE ONE FOR THIS COUNTRY SONGSTRESS
SHANIA TWAIN'S TWISTED LOVE STORY REVEALED!

If you had told Shania Twain 12 years ago that one day she'd be living with the man of her dreams in a Swiss chalet overlooking Lake Geneva, preparing for a lucrative Las Vegas residency in the coming months, she might not have believed you.

Indeed, in 2008, the singer's whole world was torn apart when she discovered her husband of 14 years, Robert John ‘Mutt' Lange, was having an affair with her best friend and longtime personal assistant, Marie-Anne Thiébaud.

"Mutt had already indicated things were over between them, but he made it sound like he simply no longer loved her,” says a source, who knew the couple at the time. “It was brutal. Shania had already had a rough 10 or so years being forced to break from her career because she had Lyme disease. Mutt and their son was all she had.”

The illicit liaison was discovered by Marie-Anne's then-husband, Frédéric Thiébaud, who found strange hotel receipts, phone bills and a set of lingerie in his wife's possession.

After connecting the dots, Frédéric demanded that Mutt and Marie-Anne come clean to Shania.

"You just owe her that,” he reportedly said.

The couple didn't and Frédéric was forced to break the news to the Man! I Feel Like a Woman! singer two weeks later.

Shania says the truth finally came out when she personally confronted Marie-Anne, who allegedly denied the affair and changed her phone number. Mutt has never publicly spoken about the alleged events.
