This time of year, the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve in the Mojave Desert grasslands comes alive with miles of gorgeous orange and yellow poppies. The exact color and vibrancy vary every year, but about once a decade, the flowers are so bright, they can be seen from space! Although that's not due to happen again until around 2030, the fields still draw crowds starting in mid-March, with eight miles of walking trails and countless photo ops. parks.ca.gov
