Google has been successfully bucking the trend with its Pixel range of not going with more than a single camera at the back and this year’s Pixel 3 phones are no different. But with phones upping the rear camera game with its dual, triple and even quad sensors, are the new Pixel phones good enough to take on the competition? We find out.

Design

The Pixel 3 XL design is very similar to its predecessor but there are subtle changes that make the phone stand out. The back still maintains Google’s dual-tone design that features a glossy finish over the top but the lower two-thirds of the phone comes with a soft-touch frosted glass finish (Gorilla Glass 5). We like the new design that gives the phone a premium feel and an improved grip. The glass back has also enabled Google to add another most sought feature - wireless charging, which works fine even if you decide to slap a case to protect the soft-touch glass from scratches.

Another important design change is the ability to withstand water and dust abuse as the phone is now certified with an IP68 rating, making it at par with the competition. Colour-wise, there are three options to choose from - Just Black, Clearly White and Not Pink.
