Getting Around

MRT + LRT Singapore’s MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) and LRT (Light Rail Transit) systems are efficient, cost-effective and air-conditioned ways to travel. Trains run from around 5:30 a.m. to midnight; longer during festive periods. Pick up an EZ-Link stored-value card, which charges you based on distance travelled. Fares start at $0.33 for adults and is even free for children (0.9 metres or taller) if you take a ride before 7:45 a.m. on weekdays!

MyTransport .SG (www.mytransport.sg and free via Google Play and iTunes Store) helps you locate train stations or bus stops, track arrival times and send updates on delays.

Public Buses The bus network runs from around 5:30 to 12:30 a.m. daily. Fares start at less than $1 using an EZ-link stored-value card. Prep some change and ask the driver for the fare if you are using casgh. Tip: Tap out when exiting, or you may be charged the maximum fare from where you boarded.
