Cabins in Kappl-Paznaun in Tirol, Austria
The largest village of the charming Paznauntal valley is Kappl. Once upon a time this area was used for summer grazing. Today Kappl is a popular holiday resort, able to maintain its rural origins. A vast network of hiking trails snake in the environs of the Paznauntal valley. One of the most popular is a part of the “Way of St. James”. The trail takes hikers from Kappl via the Heiligkreuz and Ruhestein chapels to the Sessladalpe pasture (1,896 m asl) and further on to the Niederelbehütte refuge (2,310 m asl). This hike takes about 3 hours up to the refuge and leads past the lovely Fatlartal valley and crystal-clear Lake Riepasee. In the surroundings there are about 90 hamlets that are worthy of visit, as well as several chapels that were constructed so that the inhabitants could say their prayers close to their homes.
Cheese train and Swiss peaks in Switzerland
Board the Cheese Train (just one of several trains) in either Montreux by Lake Geneva, or in the mountain village of Zweisimmen. The journey lets you experience slow winding climbs through gorgeous snowy alpine slopes dotted with chalets and farms.
Explore the Swiss Peaks with the Cheese train from Montreux station. The journey has lovely views all the way to Château-d’Oex. On arrival go to the ‘Le Chalet’ restaurant for a cheese making demonstration. ‘Chalet Bio’ cheese is made over a wood fire, just like in an alpine chalet.

BABY ROVER
The Range Rover Evoque has always been one good-looking car. It is compact and sharp, and manages to capture the essence of the big Rangie but in a smaller size. Now, for 2024, there's a bit of a makeover. The usual stuff- a style update and a spruced-up interior. What caught my eye is the new Autobiography trim, taking cues from its inspiration. But the one we're cruising in is the Dynamic SE, which turns things a bit more sporty.
