At 18, Isabel Blancart became a model and her world changed. Not that it was her ultimate dream. Unlike most Spanish beauties, Isabel never thought of entering the world of cover shoots and ramp walks. It was her parents who first suggested that she can be a part of the fashion world. A simple girl growing up in a sleepy little town of Spain, nudged by her parents, entered a reality show that spots and grooms models. She worked hard and earned a name for herself. Dozens of beauty brand collaborations and cover shoots (including editorial for L’Officiel Brasil) later, she is now busy travelling. We caught up with her in-between her escapades. Excerpts.

Tell us about your childhood. Did you dream of becoming a model?

I was born in one of the most beautiful towns in Spain... Cordoba. I was always surrounded by family and friends, who have been with me since childhood. I never had slightest of hint that I could be a model. Until I actually chanced upon the opportunity of being a model, I had no inclination towards this profession.

So, how did modelling happen?

I would say pure luck and some encouragement from my parents. While growing up, I was always told that I have the face and personality of a model. Even strangers would come up to me and tell me that I look like a model. And all I could think was how can I be a model? I was living in small town, living a normal, much protected life. Honestly, I didn’t even believe that I was beautiful or I have it in me to be a model. Even today, I am a normal girl-next-door.
