Yunnan among all the provincial-level regions in China has the most ethnic minority groups in habitation. Located in southwest China, it is home to about 24 of China’s 55 ethnic minority groups. This September, ChinAfrica magazine, joining hands with three African media professionals studying in the Communication University of China, visited two counties of the province near the borders with Viet Nam to learn how people there are making efforts to step out of poverty.
