THE Christmas Market has been hailed a success and attracted up to 24,000 visitors during its three-day span.

Maghera felt Enjoys Its Christmas Market

There was an emphasis on small, independent companies and businesses, with many of the stalls and proprietors arriving for their first ever year.

Making great use of the town’s central diamond, the Christmas Market opened with performances by Mid-Ulster School of Music as well as the choir from the Great Oaks Church, both of whom delivered renditions of traditional carols.

Geraldine Bradley of Handcrafted by Geraldine highlighted the importance of the market for small, independent businesses.

She said: “It’s my first year. I’m just hoping to gain experience from the craft fair for moving forward in the future.”

The musical renditions were followed by the comedic children’s entertainer Louie who performed for the young and the young at heart.
