As a young girl, Bhuma Akhila Priya never wanted to join politics and resented as she felt it was the reason she was sent away from home to a boarding in Ooty. Coming from a family that was deeply entrenched in politics for almost 40 years in Andhra Pradesh, she just couldn’t picture herself doing what they did, and instead wanted to travel the world. But fate had something else in store for her. Now, the Andhra Pradesh tourism minister, Priya, 29, has not only learnt a few lessons in life but is also a sharp politician working for the welfare of her people and attempting to make Andhra Pradesh into a world-class tourism destination.
