DEER ISLE—When two moms tried to show their appreciation for Deer Isle-Stonington Elementary School teachers and staff, their efforts multiplied.
Shannon Joyce and her sister Amelia Damon have three elementary school children—Addie Rose Joyce and Keith and Collin Damon. Like all DISES students, they’ve had to listen and learn from their teachers over the internet while they isolate at home. DISES staff delivers lunches and lesson plans, and they pick up homework from boxes at the end of driveways.
