New pastor brings experience to Sunshine Advent Church

DEER ISLE—With over 40 years of experience in the church, new Sunshine Advent Christian Church pastor Dwight Dean said his new location is the “perfect fit” for him to finish out his career.

“We have been here for two weeks, and it is just such an amazing place,” said Dean. “My wife and I both said upon first coming here that it is the best place for us to be until, as long as my health permits it, I can retire.”

Dean has served in Advent churches from Florida to Maine, and has also worked in faith-based social services programs. The fact that he has done both pastoral work and other work outside of the church is one of the reasons for his longevity, he said.
