In a bid to attract people from across the world to explore the unexplored beauty and experience the exotic and vibrant culture of Arunachal Pradesh, Abu Tayeng, a resident of Dambuk village and a senior bureaucrat of Arunachal government have been organising Orange Festival of Adventure and Music (OFAM) for the past few years. OFAM is the first of its kind festivals in India which combines adventure sports and musical gigs on the same platform. Northeast Today finds out more.
New Beginning
The land of rising sun—Arunachal Pradesh is also known for its distinct culture and traditions. The plethora of tribes that inhabit the state makes the state quite vibrant with their colourful festivals. Besides a host of tribal festivals, the natives of the state are also taking initiating for organising various adventurous and music festivals, and one such festival is ‘Orange Festival of Adventure and Music’ (OFAM), which is the brain-child of Abu Tayeng.
While speaking to Northeast Today, Abu Tayeng, said, “OFAM came as a breath of fresh air. Hosted in the quaint village of Lower Dibang valley, the festival is the combination of high adrenaline adventure sports and musical gigs.”
He further added that the idea behind organising this festival is to attract people from across the world to explore the untouched beauty and experience the exotic culture amidst a bunch of exciting activities.
According to Tayeng, OFAM is a celebration of tenacious spirit of the locals offering others the opportunity to experience the tribal way of life and nature in its purest form.
