She is one special person who makes our life meaningful in this world. Mother is other name of life.
The debate to celebrate a particular day to remind one’s love, respect and to demonstrate the value of that relationship is as fresh today, as it began, no one knows when. The fact that each one of us is reminded, on that day, of that person’s contribution in our lives, which we take it for granted. Mother’s day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May every year since 1914. The history when it began is important, but the significance is in its adoption across the world.
Today, Mother remains as ever an important person in our lives. To remind her, that she is special, a special hug and kiss can do wonders. The challenges she faced in taking care of us from the stage of a foetus to giving birth and then nurturing with love, care, affection and attention.
MOTHER’S ROLE HAS NOT CHANGED
We hear a lot of argument that modern day women have transformed to take care of her job and child. She has just continued. People forget easily that in the village she takes care of the household, works in the field and also takes care of her child, as a labourer she does the same at the construction site. As a professional, she is doing the same. Indira Nooyi, Pepsico CEO in an interview once narrated the challenges of being a mother and able to ‘develop a coping mechanism’ when she felt guilty of not being there with her daughters.
No doubt that today’s mothers are supermoms. But mother’s who do not go out to work are equally supermoms. Recently BJP leader Smriti Irani, in midst of hectic poll campaign could not help celebrate her son’s super performance in the Board exams, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also in the middle of her political campaign took time off with her son to show his the ancestral home in Prayagraj.
Both were playing an important role as a mother. They are helping the child to get education and teaching values that will stand them good as they grow.
