Aside from the usual glitz and glamour, it’s the ceremony the stars themselves seem to relish the most, with its risqué jokes and good natured jabs, champagne on every table and Hollywood’s biggest open bar. But this year, there may be a sour note amid all the merrymaking: Insiders predict there could be a showdown if Brad Pitt’s estranged ex, Angelina Jolie, comes face-to-face with his rumored new fling, Kate Hudson!

The Jan. 8 gala at the Beverly Hilton could be the first time Angie will be in the same room with Kate since the sexy rom-com queen reportedly first hooked up with Brad in early November — “and there’s every chance the real drama won’t be onstage,” an insider says. “I’ve heard that Angie is out of her mind with jealousy, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she actually seeks Kate out and angrily confronts her behind the scenes. But Kate is nothing if not feisty, and she could give Angie a real piece of her mind if she’s pushed!”
