Austrian out to impress Gary.
ANDI Weimann didn’t know if he was coming or going last season – but this time he is focused solely on playing for Gary Rowett at Derby.
Former Birmingham boss Rowett took over at Derby in March, when Weimann was out on loan at Wolves.
He had joined them in January after being largely restricted to substitute appearances for the Rams in the first half of the season under first Nigel Pearson and then Steve McClaren.
Weimann was at the EFL media launch in the players’ lounge at his old club Aston Villa – and the Austrian spoke while sitting underneath a framed picture of himself scoring the winner in Villa’s 3-2 win over Manchester City in 2013.
“I know exactly which game this is, yes. I remember it well, I think Leandro (Bacuna) scored a free-kick as well.
“I had great times here. I was here for eight years but I’m really enjoying things where I am at Derby now.
“Pre-season’s been good, it’s obviously been tough but I’ve enjoyed it. Running’s one of my strong points really. It wasn’t too bad for me.
