Rampant Rams run riot after Canos is dismissed.
DEAN Smith will be appealing the red card that set promotion-chasing Derby on the road to a comfortable victory.
The Bees boss was convinced Sergi Canos did no more than win a full-blooded tackle in the 22nd minute before a first-ever Rams strike from Tom Huddlestone and a goal from new signing Cameron Jerome turned the tide firmly in the home side’s favour.
Matej Vydra added to Brentford’s sense of injustice by netting an injury-time penalty.
Smith said: “The game was decided by one decision by the official.
“Canos won the ball cleanly in the tackle then four of five Derby players surrounded the referee.
“Peter Bankes told me he gave the red card for excessive force – but how else can you make a tackle on a pitch as greasy as that?
“No way was it a sending off and we will be appealing.
“We’d had the better chances before that when there were two evenly-matched sides.
