Help! I've Had A Baby During The Pandemic!

Waiting in anticipation for baby to arrive, the eager, naïve parents count the days in excitement. But as every parent knows, the hard work actually comes after! For many a new parent, this is indeed a trying time learning the new ropes! One minute they are euphoric in their newfound state of parenthood, cocooned in their never-ending feelings of pride and joy, only to be left in a state of indecisive despair as baby screams all night long. Yes, being parents to newborns can be difficult at the best of times, but with a pandemic disrupting our everyday lives, newbie parents have faced a different journey than those they have experienced before. Whilst usually the newly delivered mother would have had plenty of family and friends on standby to help, the risks of possible infection have forced families to cut down their social interactions and protect themselves in their own personalised care “bubbles”. Protecting the health of their newborn being the priority, parents are usually stranded to plough on by themselves to the best of their abilities and strength of character!

TIPS ON PARENTING A NEWBORN DURING THE COVID -19 PANDEMIC

1 With a lack of help and a hesitancy to employ nannies, the parents would be wise to agree on a list of duties beforehand. This should be done before baby arrives, for afterwards, with emotions on a constant rollercoaster, personal disagreements will occur! From the newborn days to sleep training exercises as baby grows to weaning times, one must agree on who takes precedence. The key to winning in all aspects of parenting, is to be a united parenting team!
