Dan Biggar is preparing for a heavyweight contest against South Africa on Saturday – and has urged the British & Irish Lions to raise the bar in the muscle stakes.

The Springboks can win ugly, as the Welshman knows to his cost, but would settle for the tourists doing just that this weekend in the first Test match.

Biggar, favorite to wear the No.10 jersey, has played South Africa eight times since 2014, winning four and losing four, including the heartbreaking 19-16 World Cup semi-final defeat in Japan in 2019.

Handre Pollard was his opposite number that day in Yokohama and probably will be again this weekend.

And the South African, back in camp after isolation, yesterday predicted another slugfest in Cape Town.
