Wayne wants to rebuild Rams with new owner

WAYNE ROONEY says he wants to stick around for the "rebirth" of crisis club Derby.

The Rams boss says he's happy to steer the ship as long as American Chris Kirchner's proposed takeover is completed.

The software tycoon has been named as preferred bidder by the club's administrators.

Rooney says he can see nothing but positives and wants to help take Derby back to the top from wherever they find themselves next season. That's likely to be League One as they go into tonight's game with league leaders Fulham nine points adrift of safety with five games left.
