A plume of smoke rises 8Oft in the air after a man was killed in a taxi explosion at a hospital yesterday.
Counter-terror police made three arrests following the blast and blaze at 10.59 am, as the nation fell silent to mark Remembrance Sunday.
Officers said the passenger died in the hospital car park while the taxi driver remains in stable condition.
It is thought the cabbie drove into the car park when his passenger started to act suspiciously. The driver is believed to have then locked the man in the car.
It was not declared a terrorist incident but police said counter-terror officers are leading the probe out of caution”. A bomb disposal team was called in.
PM Boris Johnson said: “My thoughts are with all those affected by the awful incident in Liverpool.
I want to thank the emergency services for their quick response and professionalism, and the police for their ongoing work on the investigation”
