Lochhead is slammed after trying to distance SNP Government from chaos on nationalised network

A minister has been accused of "desperate spin" after saying the Scottish Government could not intervene in the ScotRail dispute that sparked 700 services being cut from today.

As commuters face rail chaos, employment minister Richard Lochhead said he hoped ScotRail strike problems will be "sorted soon" but distanced the SNP Government from the recently nationalised service.

Lochhead, speaking to the BBC's Sunday Show, described the rail network as being at “arms length" from the government.
