Palestinian Lives Don't Matter To World Leaders Like Biden

ON Sunday there was a genuine concern surrounding the potential Covid spread in Glasgow as thousands took to the streets in solidarity with the Palestinians.

But overwhelmingly there was pride that so many of us in this small nation had raised their voice for a voiceless people so far from our shores.

In a video which has gone viral around the globe, 10-year-old Palestinian girl Nadin Abd Al-Latif pleaded with a world which is not listening.

Surrounded by buildings reduced to rubble by Israeli bombs she cried: “I don’t want to hear any screams any more, any cries, it just hurts my heart. I am just a kid, I am just a kid.”

There should be an ache in all of our hearts for the children of Palestine, whose lives have been rendered worthless not just by Israel but all nations, including our own, which arm and prop up such a brutal regime.

Our government’s silence in this war crime makes us as complicit as we were in the shameful crimes of apartheid and colonialism.

After all, this started when the British colonialists departed from Palestine in 1947, leaving the Jews and the Arabs to fight it out in the war that followed.

Now we are here in this impasse.
