Bold Boris must show his mettle

BORIS Johnson will tonight address the nation and outline how he intends to try to restart the economy.

This could be a career-defining moment for the relatively newly installed prime minister.

The lockdown has done huge damage to our economy and more than half of the working population of around 35million people are on the state payroll.

Indeed, one million were taken on in a single day last month!

The measures have cost every household in the land £1,500 – and that figure is rising.

The hit to GDP for this quarter could be in the region of 30%, say some economists.
