The people who love me have no idea how much I hate them.

I tell jokes at family gatherings and pretend I’m happy to be there. I gush that my sister looks nice and my brother is a success but I’m always boiling inside.

The truth is that I’m eaten up with jealousy and resentment. I can’t stand to hear that someone else is doing well.

When my dad sold his firm I genuinely thought he’d spread the money around and give me at least £10,000.

I can’t begin to tell you how crushed I felt when he handed out cheap watches and told us all to “take our time”.

Others laughed while I seethed. I was relying on his cash to dig me out of a deep hole and have never forgiven him for being so mean.
