BRITAIN faces the biggest fall in living standards since the 50s despite Rishi Sunak unveiling tax cuts yesterday.

The warning came as figures show inflation has rocketed to a 30-year high of 6.2%.

In his spring statement, the Chancellor slashed fuel duty by 5p a liter until March 2023. And he raised the income threshold for paying national insurance by £3,000 to £12,570 from July.

Meanwhile, the basic rate of income tax will drop from 20% to 19% by 2024.
