The England captain has made a disappointing start to the season, having been unable to secure a move away from Tottenham after Euro 2020.
Kane is yet to score in the Premier League for Spurs and last night drew a blank to end a run of 15 consecutive qualifiers in which he has been on the scoresheet. The striker was replaced after 76 minutes last night with England in need of a goal.
Kane made a public push to leave Spurs in the summer and returned to training a week late in north London as he looked to force through the move to City, although the Premier League champions never matched Spurs’s asking price.
The 28-year-old has nine goals in all competitions this season but looked out of sorts last night, just as he has done in the Premier League.
Asked if last summer’s events had impacted his start to the season, Kane told ITV: “It’s natural people think like that and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but at the end of the day I’m my own biggest critic.
