While a less than five-minute swab test would determine whether an individual is a Novel Coronavirus (COVID19) patient, those who have recovered from the dreaded disease must undergo three swab tests to guarantee their wellness and freedom from the COVID19-causing SARS-CoV2.
However, Al Zahra Hospital-Dubai Pediatrics consultant Dr. Yasser El Nakhlawi said “recovered patients” and their families have to be more extra careful as they must remain conscious of safety/health measures.
“COVID19 patients who have recovered must undergo three swab tests because the nature of the (SARS-CoV2) continue in different stages. (This is) to make sure that the patient has enough immunity to overcome the virus and (there would no longer be) virus replication (taking place),” he said.
El Nakhlawi added: “Having three negative COVID19 swabs is a good indicator that the patient no longer sheds the (SARS-CoV2).
El Nakhlawi was interviewed on Sunday as TM, his four-month-old Egyptian COVID19 patient, said to be the youngest survivor in the UAE, passed the three swab tests with flying colours.
