The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed on Wednesday that it had obtained approval from its counterpart in Saudi Arabia, to allow the passage of the Kingdom’s airspace for outbound and inbound flights to and from the UAE to all countries of the world.
Saudi Arabia agreed Wednesday to permit UAE flights to “all countries” to overfly the kingdom.
The announcement comes after the first direct commercial flight from Tel Aviv to Abu Dhabi on Monday, which passed through Saudi airspace, to mark the normalization of Israel-UAE ties.
The official Saudi Press Agency said the kingdom had accepted an Emirati request to allow the use of its airspace for “flights heading to the UAE and departing from it to all countries.”
On the other hand, Dr Anwar Bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, has reviewed prospects for consolidating cooperation between the UAE and Israel with Meir Ben-Shabbat, National Security Adviser and Head of the Israeli National Security Council, who is leading the Israeli delegation currently visiting the country.
