In a late-night move, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Monday asked his cabinet ministers to resign. A party source who was present in the meeting confirmed that Kamal Nath is going to reconstitute his cabinet.
In the cabinet meeting called at his residence in Bhopal after meeting party president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi, all the 16 cabinet ministers of who were present at the meeting with Nath, tendered their resignations which was immediately accepted. Kamal Nath is now expected to redistribute the cabinet portfolios with rebel MLAs in focus.
Kamal Nath was on Monday engaged in troubleshooting after several lawmakers, including ministers, supporting Jyotiraditya Scindia flew to Bengaluru amid intensified factionalism in the ruling party ahead of Rajya Sabha polls.
Madhya Pradesh finance minister Tarun Bhanot who is part of Kamal Nath cabinet confirmed the developments of the meeting to India Today TV.
