THOUSANDS of Indian students across UK are taking desperate measures to go back to India as they feel “unsafe” in the UK and insist they will be better looked after in India in this crisis time.
Vrudh Shah is on valid visa till 2023 but now that the teaching is being carried out online due to closing of schools and universities, he insists going back to India. “We want to go to India because UK government is not taking any serious action and we don’t have money for accommodation and food. And in coming days, the situation in UK is going to be like Italy. If UK gets lockdown we won’t be able come India after March 31. Please help us,” said Vrudh to India Today.
Vrudh is not alone. Many of students with similar mindset landed up on various airports desperate to get back to their homeland. A handful of students from Gatwick airport had landed on the doorsteps of the Indian High Commission demanding to be sent back to India. After almost two days, they have been now convinced to move into hotel accommodation with facility of food provided for by the Indian High Commission.
