Positivity Rate Under 30% After 2 Days, First Decline In 25 Days

New Delhi: Delhi recorded 18,286 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday and also witnessed the positivity rate dip to 27.87% after recording a positivity of more than 30% for two consecutive days. While both cases and the number of Covid tests have been dipping since Thursday, the positivity rate has seen a decline after 25 days of continuous surge.

The 18,286 cases recorded in the last 24 hours are from a total 65,621 tests, including 54,141 RTPCR/CBNAAT/True Nat tests and 11,480 rapid antigen tests. After more than one lakh Covid tests on January 12, the number of tests has been dipping but the positivity rate has been surging alarmingly.

Sunday’s test positivity rate of 27.87% is not only lowest in three days, two of which saw the positivity rate of 30.64%, but also the first time in 25 days that the test positivity rate in Delhi has seen a dip. On December 23, the positivity rate was recorded at 0.19%, a dip of one percentage point from the 0.20% recorded on December 22. The day after, December 24, the positivity rate climbed to 0.29% as 180 cases were recorded. Since then, even though the number of cases have surged and fluctuated, the positivity has only soared, relentlessly.
