Schools Ready To Open Doors For Kids

Parents Relieved At DDMA Move, But Some Educators In Favour Of Ending Hybrid Option

New Delhi: As the much awaited reopening of schools was announced on Friday, both the parents and the institutions were relieved at the decision of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority. The students of classes IX to XII will resume school from Monday, while those in nursery to Class VIII will return to classes from February 14. While the hybrid option of in-person and online classes will still be available, most schools said they would open to full capacity and would be ready to accommodate all their students.

Earlier, when classes had been allowed to resume before the third wave of Covid-19 forced their closure, the schools had been instructed to have only 50% of the students attending, because of which students attended on a rotation basis.

Sudha Acharya, principal, ITL Public School, Dwarka, said, “With the restrictions eased, we will be able to accommodate all our students. After February 14, we will also resume transport facilities because the junior students will not be able to come on their own and many parents would also be joining work. The canteen will start from Monday itself. We hope that many students will return.”
