New Delhi: A cap on surge pricing, 24X7 monitoring of cabs and panic buttons, training and monitoring for drivers with less than 3.5 rating over a year are among several measures in the draft Motor Vehicle Aggregators Scheme, 2021 prepared by Delhi government’s transport department and placed in the public domain for feedback.
According to the draft, all aggregators operating more than 50 vehicles, except buses, will be required to take an annual licence for operating in the city. They will be required to have a registered office in India and register all on-boarded driver partners and their vehicles. Delhi government has also mandated a transition to electric vehicles for ride aggregators and delivery services.
A virtual round-table consultation, which was held Monday to deliberate on the scheme, started with discussion on the government’s aim to achieve a transition of 10% of new two- and three-wheelers and 5% of cars to electric within three months of the scheme’s launch, and 50% of the former and 25% of the latter in the first year.
