New Delhi: A native of Zaporizhzhia, which was in the news after its nuclear plant was captured by Russia, Siver hasn’t been able to connect with her family for the past three days.
“The situation is terrible as Russian forces are continuously bombarding civilian areas. When people go out for food or other necessities, they are shot. There is a shortage of food items. I want the Indian government to provide food to Ukraine on humanitarian grounds. Besides, many Ukrainians in India are willing to collect and donate money. We need the help of the Indian government to facilitate the legal transfer of money,” said Siver, married to an Indian, Subrata Bakshi, who studied in Ukraine.
On Sunday, scores of Ukrainians staged a demonstration at Jantar Mantar demanding an end to the war. Many Ukrainians settled in India after getting married to Indians.
