It was an emotional day, as friends and well-wishersof Kannada cinema’s first family bid farewell toPuneeth Rajkumar, who succumbed to cardiac arrest. The Power Star of Kannada cinema left many people weeping as he bid farewell by leaving his legacy on the big and small screen. Puneeth’s mortal remains were kept at the Kanteerava Staudium in Bengauluru for public viewing. Last rites to take place at the Kanteerava Studio today.
It was a Black Friday for family, friends and fans as newsof Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar’s death due toa cardiac arrest sent shockwaves throughout the country and beyond. The actor’s mortal remains were first taken to his residence from the private hospital, following which he was taken to Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, where thousands turned up to say one last goodbye to a family member, a friend, a colleague, a superhero, a superlative human being.
His widow, Ashwini, sat by his side, distraught, yet silent and strong, as members from the family and close friends ensured that everyone got a chance to pay tribute. Apart from his wife, the actor is survived by two daughters. The elder daughter had to be flown in from abroad, where she is pursuing her studies. The family waited until she landed in Bengaluru to perform the last rites. The actor will be laid to rest in a memorial next to his parents’ grave at the Kanteerava Studio in Bengaluru.
