City Death Count Of 39 Lowest In 38 Days As State Toll Crosses 9k

Mumbai: Four months since the first Covid-19 case was reported in the state, Maharashtra on Monday recorded 5,368 fresh cases, a marginal dip compared to the daily increase seen in the last few days. With this, the state tally was 2,11,987 cases and with 204 deaths reported in the state, the toll touched 9,029, breaching the 9,000 mark.

The city reported 1,200 cases and 39 deaths. Monday’s toll for the city was the lowest since May 29, or in 38 days. Mumbai’s total cases on Monday were 85,724, crossing the 85,000 mark, and deaths stood at 4,938, close to the 5,000 mark. Civic officials said while the city’s doubling rate now was 44 days, the overall growth of cases between June 29 and July 5 dropped to 1.60%.
