Fresh Covid-19 cases across the world,which were declining since late Janu-ary, have begun to surge again. Driving the rise this time is a sharp spike in east and southeast Asia as well as western Europe, where the Omicron wave appears to have returned after peaking in JanuaryFebruary, reports Amit Bhattacharya.
Although India’s numbers continue to dip to levels last seen nearly two years ago, the seven-day average of global cases has been rising for over two weeks. In the seven days ending Thursday, global cases surged 5% compared to the previous seven days, as per Worldometers.info.
