New Delhi: On the first day of its rollout, there weren’t many takers for Covid booster shots among adults, with only 9,496 jabs being administered under the programme on Sunday, officials said. Only around 850 private sites administered the shots, as per the CoWin dashboard.
Adults who got the second dose at least nine months ago are eligible for a third dose of the same jab at private centres. Most hospitals plan to start the booster plan from Monday. Some hospital executives said they were sceptical about the initial response from people for a paid booster programme.
Besides, Sunday was not considered a favourable day as footfall is usually low on weekends and, this time, it also coincided with Ram Navami. Most private hospitals were also short-staffed due to the holiday, executives said.
