Time To Upgrade Your Yoga Asanas At Home
The Times of India Mumbai|October 15, 2021
In the last year and half, we’ve had first-hand experience of how people can actually be quite resourceful in a time of crisis. During this phase of staying-in, while being patient and dealing with the pandemic, we made the best of what we had.

Time To Upgrade Your Yoga Asanas At Home

Yoga experts say that they have been using stacks of pillows, cushions, belts, folded blankets, chairs and other household items for yoga practice. Here are a few you could try...

NATARAJASANA WITH BELT OR STOLE

Natrajasana or dancers pose is a rejuvenating backbend which opens up the shoulders and the hip flexors. “Often it is done with one hand, but by using a belt you can do this with both hands. This helps create evenness across the shoulders and allows you to explore a new range of motion,” explains Namita.

USTRASANA OR THE CAMEL POSE, WITH A BOLSTER PILLOW

Ustrasana or the camel pose is an excellent pose to strengthen the muscles of the back as well as to open the chest and shoulder muscles and release the hip flexors in the front of your thighs, say experts. “If you lack the strength to bend backwards then place a bolster on top of your ankles, engage your abdominal muscles and hip muscles and gently bend backwards and place your hands on the bolster while opening out your chest and there you are in the camel pose,” shares Shalini. Alternatively, you could also place the bolster under your ankles to lift your feet off the floor and make it easier to hold your heels. So, choose whichever way works for you and perform the camel pose with ease.
