Life is a constant learning process and we can learn things from all creatures…
When we are studying under a teacher, he or she teaches lessons first and only then asks us to undergo the test. The God is altogether a very different and hard teacher. HE puts us under test first and expects us to learn lessons from that.
What lessons we learn and whether we are applying those lessons to correct ourselves – all these will reveal the successes or failures in our life.
It is not that He expects us to learn only from fellow human beings; sometimes we can learn even from animals or any other creatures among His creations. The world is a university – each and every being created by HIM is teaching us some lesson or the other. How?
We all know of the Amoeba, the single cell creature. That single cell symbolizes individuality or rigidity – that one should never give up his 'being'' under any circumstances. If we fall for everything, we stand for nothing. That single cell concept teaches us this lesson. The same amoeba will take varied shapes suited to different situations. These 'varied shapes' denote flexibility – one should be flexible in his approach, in order to maintain harmonious relationships. In terms of ideals or principles, one should be like a rock –very rigid. In terms of relationships, one should be like a river - flexible.
So, it is not only the amoeba but the rock and the river too that teach us very valuable lessons. Where we should be rigid and where we should be flexible are determined by circumstances or situations. All we need to do is to keep our ears, eyes and minds open to get the right cues.
