Leaf exclusive with Hischier and Patrick a real game-changer
Heading into the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, there was a great deal of debate surrounding who the New Jersey Devils were going to take with the first overall selection.
Would they go with a second-generation talent in Nolan Patrick, who has been impressive during his time with the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings? Or would they instead go with the slick and exciting Nico Hischier, who won tons of honors during his debut season with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL?
Ultimately, the Devils went with Hischier, who is sure to give a woeful team some much-needed offensive spark. Patrick, though, went second to the Philadelphia Flyers, and is poised to make an impact as well.
By the time the draft rolled around, though, hockey card collectors were already aware that the top two projected picks had signed exclusive autograph deals with Leaf Trading Cards.
