The week: March 7-13, 2019
Location: Larnaka, Cyprus
Preparing for: Race Across America (June 11-19)
Christoph Strasser is arguably the greatest ultra cyclist of all time. As we go to press, he has just won Race Across America (RAAM) for a record-breaking sixth time. In 2014, the Austrian set the RAAM record: 3,020 miles in just seven days, 16 hours — an average speed of 16.4mph (yes, that includes sleep time!). In 2015, he set a new 24-hour road bike record of 556.9 miles, and in 2017 replicated the achievement on the track, with 584.7 miles.
We asked Strasser to give us the lowdown on a high-workload week of RAAM preparation. And he didn’t disappoint — this is the biggest week of training we’ve ever seen!
