Bobby Lennox hails his team-mate and great friend
THE most important goal in Celtic’s history may have been scored in Lisbon, but it was made in Barrowfield.
Bobby Lennox had a grandstand view as his great friend, Stevie Chalmers reacted with the instincts of a Lion to turn the ball into the net and create history.
Bobby said: “Stevie’s goal meant everything to the club. It was practiced nearly daily with the balls flashing across the face of the goal about 200 miles-per-hour. Big Yogi, or Stevie, Joe McBride or myself or Wispy. Big Jock had different players in the box at different times. Every day in training it was done.”
He added: “The one thing that always springs to mind when I think about Stevie was when we played Hamilton Accies the night we scored five goals each.
