Emma Black is enjoying life at Celtic and is aiming to play her part in delivering success for the Hoops this season

Paul Cuddihy
Voice Of Experience

EMMA Black has won everything there is to win in the Scottish women’s game, and many times over.

In an 11-year career with Glasgow City, she won 10 league titles, seven Scottish Cups and five League Cups, while she can also boast of scoring City’s first ever European goal with a strike against Athletic Bilbao in 2006. Add in 40 caps for Scotland and it makes for very impressive reading.

Now she’s hoping to bring all that experience, and a well-established winning mentality to Celtic, having joined the club for the 2019 season.

She had actually taken a step back from football just over three years ago, having just got married and with hopes to start a family, giving birth to her daughter, Sophia, two-and-a-half years ago.

But she returned to football last year, joining Motherwell and helping them gain promotion to the top tier of Scottish football, as well as reaching the Scottish Cup final. That, in turn, led to the move to Celtic.

More importantly for the 31-year-old, it rekindled her love of football and she is looking forward to the season ahead, aiming to play her part as Celtic push for silverware and a top-two place in the league.

The Celtic View caught up with the Hoops defender to get her thoughts on life at Celtic and her hopes for the 2019 season.
