Quarterbacks
Daniel Jones was back in the saddle as the starter although he was limited by leg injuries and was relegated to staying in the pocket most of the game. He was under pressure most of the afternoon, his receivers had difficulty getting separation and the running game was ignored again. Jones completed 24 of 41 passes for 252 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions or fumbles for an 84.6 QB rating. He rushed once, for three yards, trying to avoid a sack in the fourth quarter.
Bottom Line: Fans better stop blaming Jones for the offensive ineptitude. He needs help and he is not getting it.
Running Backs
The Giants had a seven-game streak of 100-yard rushing games before they grounded to a halt three weeks ago. They rushed for just 54 yards, their lowest output since they were held to 29 yards by Pittsburgh in Week 1. It didn’t help that the Giants got down by three scores in the first quarter and ran only three offensive plays, their fewest in the first quarter in a game in 40 years. Wayne Gallman rushed just six times and Alfred Morris had three of the Giants’ 12 rushing attempts. Over their last three games, all double-digit losses, the Giants have averaged just 16.7 rushing attempts per game, the lowest in the league over that period.
Bottom Line: If they don’t run, they don’t win. It’s that simple.
