It’s Halloween season, the time of year for trick or treating and watching the movie Halloween for the thousandth time. It’s also the time of year for the NFL trading deadline, where teams can unload players to gain draft capital. The Giants? Heck, who wants any of their players with their record over the last three seasons (worst in the NFL)?
Well, there is one very intriguing tight end who may pique the interest of a few teams. His name is Evan Engram.
Engram is a maddening specimen, a player you want to love so much, but wind up hating time and time again. After his impressive rookie campaign, he has been injured way too often for Giants fans’ liking. He was on pace for 80-plus catches last season but of course, he got injured. Giants fans want so badly to tell their buddies that they have one of the best tight ends in the game — our very own George Kittle.
Then the Philadelphia game happened.
With the Giants leading the hated Eagles 21-16 with just over three minutes to go, Daniel Jones faced a third-and-seven around midfield. Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett wanted to finish the Eagles off. So instead of running up the middle like Tom Coughlin would have done years ago, Garrett went aggressive, calling for a pass and instructing Jones to look for a man-to-man matchup in the secondary.
Boom! Instructions followed. Game over, right?
Nope.
