To help you get to know them better, I’ve put together capsules for each of them that entail their statistical accomplishments in college. Away we go:
First round: Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida
This choice was certainly a surprise, considering that Toney likely won’t catch as many passes as Kenny Golladay or Darius Slayton. Obviously, he was far from the most notable receiver drafted from Florida - referring, of course, to Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts - but would you believe that Toney actually accrued more receiving yards than Pitts? It’s true: 984 to Pitts’ 770. Toney’s 984 yards were the most for a Florida receiver since 2002. Again, far from a popular choice, but the stats prove that Toney was no slouch in college. Interestingly enough, he is the first player from the University of Florida to be drafted by New York since Jesse Palmer in 2001. Toney is also only the second Gator the Giants have ever taken in the first round. He is in good company, however, since the other was Ike Hilliard in 1997.
Second round: Azeez Ojulari, LB, Georgia
